DST Monitor Scheduling – Summary & Plan
🧩 What Happened
- After the DST change (Mar 10), none of the monitors followed the scheduled power on/off times for several days.
- Even after time was manually updated, some devices — especially offline ones — completely stopped responding to any schedule and couldn’t recover unless manually reset.
- The supplier confirmed the issue is known, and provided a software update (patch) they say should fix it.
⚠️ Limitations
- The supplier won’t give a clear answer about fixing the issue at a deeper level (like hardware or system-level logic).
- They are pushing this software patch as the final solution.
- Based on their history, their patches have sometimes introduced new problems.
✅ My Plan
- I’ve decided to stop questioning the supplier, as it’s clear they won’t address the issue further.
- Instead, I will:
- Gradually roll out the patch, one monitor at a time, and monitor behavior closely.
- Explore a fallback solution on my own, in case the issue returns when clocks roll back in winter.
- Document and track everything, so we have a clear understanding of risk before scaling up deployment.
